Dyring Music Teaching Studio Policies

Practice Requirement

  • Students must practice at home in order to advance on their instrument.
  • Students and parents must agree to the Practice Expectations.
  • Sufficient lesson preparation in between lessons is required to avoid possible dismissal.

Scheduling

  • Lesson schedules are established according to the mutual availability between Wes and the student.
  • When Wes’ schedule makes it necessary, the lesson schedule for a particular week may vary from the usual time.
  • If the proposed time in an invoice will not work, please inform Wes immediately so other arrangements can be made.
  • When an agreed-upon lesson needs to be rescheduled, at least 24 hours advance notice must be given.

Location

  • All lessons are at Dyring Music Studio in Lynnwood, WA.

Invoicing and Payment

  • Lessons are invoiced by the month in advance and sent via email.
  • The amount due will depend upon the number of lessons in the month.
  • Sales tax of 10.7% will be added to the amount due.
  • Payment for the month is due by the first lesson of the month.
  • Payments may be made by Zelle, Venmo, or check payable to “Wesley Dyring.”

Missed Lessons

  • Makeup lessons may be given for missed lessons with at least 24 hours advance notice.
  • If no makeup option is available for a lesson missed with proper advance notice by the student or parent, a credit may be given for the following month.
  • No makeup or credit will be given for missed lessons without proper notice.

Illness

  • When the student is sick with an illness that is contagious, it is preferable to miss an in-person lesson rather than risk passing on the illness to the teacher and thus others as well.
  • A makeup lesson or credit toward the following month will be given for lessons missed due to illness.
  • If the student will not be at a lesson due to illness, Wes must be notified in advance if at all possible by phone, text or email, in order to receive a makeup or lesson credit.

Emergencies

  • If on rare occasions a legitimate emergency comes up on short notice making it impossible for the student to attend their lesson, Wes must be notified in advance, if at all possible, by phone, text or email, explaining the nature of the emergency.
  • If the emergency is deemed legitimate, a makeup lesson or credit toward the following month may be given for lessons missed.
  • If the emergency is not deemed legitimate, then the standard missed lesson policy will apply.

Parents During Lessons

  • Parents are welcome to stay in the studio during their child’s lesson, provided that this is not a distraction for the student.
  • Parents of young children are encouraged to attend the lessons to be in a better position to help their child in their practicing at home.

Courtesy

  • In the interest of courtesy, please refrain from chewing gum or wearing perfumes, colognes, or anything with a strong fragrance during lessons.
